Two Helpful Lists

I got these lists from the church I go to in SD while I'm at school, and I found it useful/encouraging, so thought I'd share. :3

Praying for the Pastor and the Sermon - Michael Fabarez

Colossians 4:3
3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison-

A. Pray for the Crafting of the Sermon
1. Pray that the message your pastor is preparing to preach would be an evident part of his own life.
2. Pray for the protection of your pastor's sermon preparation time.
3. Pray that your pastor will be given grace and illumination to rightly divide God's word.
4. Pray that the words your pastor chooses to frame the outline would be effective and powerful tools for the Holy Spirit to employ.
5. Pray that your pastor would have insight into the needs of the congregation as he prepares the sermon.

B. Pray for the Delivery of the Sermon.
1. Pray that people will attend the preaching event
2. Pray that the congregation would arrive in the right frame of mind.
3. Pray that God would guard against preaching distractions.
4. Pray for clarity and power in the pastor's vocabulary.
5. Pray that God will give understanding to all who hear this week's sermon.
6. Ask God for the most effective and fruitful sermon your pastor has ever preached.

C. Pray for the Response to the Sermon
1. Pray that all, including yourself, will put the sermon into practice.
2. Pray that the sermon will not be compartmentalized.
3. Pray that the application of the sermon would be contagious.
4. Pray that the sermon itself will be repeatedly delivered.

10 Practical Preparations for Hearing the Word of God on Sunday Morning - John Piper

2. Meditate on the Word of God (Psalm 34:8, Psalm 1:1-3)

4. Trust in the truth you already have (Jeremiah 17:7-8, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 119:41-42)
5. Rest long enough Saturday night to be alert and hopeful Sunday morning (1 Corinthians 6:12)
6. Forebear one another Sunday morning without grumbling and criticism (Psalm 106:25, 1 Corinthian 10:1-12, Philippians 2:14, James 1:19)

Sooooooo......

I had on sunday said that I was behind on my bible reading and had asked for prayer on that topic. I am glad to say that maybe I am not caught up yet but I am on chapter 39. I stayed up till 1145p last night and Had started at 10p. I also took my bible with me to work and on my ten and lunch read thus far.

I am really proud of myself. I know that I am supposed to be done in Genesis but this is a huge building block for me. For the first time in a long time I was able to stay home and shut my laptop off and not get distracted by the television. (even though it was very tempting because the remote was next to me) I was able to read God's word.

Question: In chapter 38 they switch from jacob to israel. Jacob was renamed Israel by God. It just confused me because there are times that they call him Jacob like when the sons brought Josephs robe they refer to him as Jacob(v. 34-35) and the time when Rachel died. But then the sentence immediately following it they say Israel(v.20-21) Is this the same guy?

Anyway. I wanted to thank everyone for praying for me.

One of these days!!!

Hello gang,
I wanted to share with you a song that has really touched my heart. It's kinda long, but every time I sit to listen to it, it bring me to tears....ahem......manly tears.........but tears nonetheless.

It is called Deathbed and is found on Relient K's Five Score and Seven Years Ago album.

This song is about a person who needed Jesus and even though his life was completely out of whack...Jesus sought him out and saved him. It ends very nicely with some truthful words from the 'Jesus' in the song!! I'm not ganna lie: Some of the underlying themes (Correct? Linda?) are things I can relate to. So when I hear this song I can really see myself there, in some of the parts at least. I hope you guys enjoy it!!!

Hello everyone,

It has been some time since I have been on this page and that is my own fault. I should be posting the most and keeping all you guys posted hehe.

I am seeking for some prayer from my fellow brothers and sisters. As I had told you guys on sunday about my new years, it seems as though the bumps are only growing and the number of them are starting to blockade me. I ask sincerely for all your prayers. Not a prayer of sympathy but one of wisdom and knowledge to take each bump in the road the right way. I know I can always count on you guys. Thanks in advance.

-Mike

My game plan/ New Years resolution

So I wanted to apologize that I have not posted in a long time. Anyway here is my game plan.

I was not there to understand fully of what i am supposed to do but I will try...

So here I go...

1. To read the bible every morning to start my day fresh with the Word of God.
~I have tried to do this and it has been something that was asked of me awhile ago and all excuses aside I have not obeyed as I wish I would have.

2. To strive to read the bible from start to finish. Try to annotate or take notes as I go so I might bring questions to ask to better understand what God is trying to tell me.
~I have to admit I have never read the bible cover to cover and I do not know all the stories that I must know as a christian. It is sad but everytime I try to read the old testimant I can never finish it.

3. To always remember there is another day after a storm and to try and look at the possitive instead of the negative all the time.
~Kind of explains itself

4. To try not to procrastinate on my bible studies and my prayer time. Also to study hard for the future God wants for me in school.
~I have not been doing too well in school I am really bad at math and that class is taking a toll becasue I have not met a teacher yet besides my 12th grade teacher that can teach me to understand. I also have not been praying as much as I want to or should I say as much as I can. I also have not been upkeeping my bible studies.

5. To set up a schedual of time that I can pray and read my bible. Even the the scheduale may vary on days I work to follow a guidline. Without that I wont be able to stay on track. This may be the best way for me to stay in tune with God and also work and go to school.

6. To strive to pray with John as much as I can. To set a schedule that is best for both of us so that we may grow as one not only in marrage but in God and always have God in the center of our relationship. Without God nothing is possible and we wont be able to surive.

7. By doing bible study and prayer I hope to use that to not only grow in spirit but that I might be able to share the good news of God with others and of the salvation that come with it. Accepting God into thier hearts.
~This one is going to be very hard for me becasue I am not what you would call a social butterfly and I do not make friends at school I go to school to learn and I am a very silent person dispite how everyone sees me at church. I am not a talkative person so making friends and witnessing to them is going to be a very hard task but this is what I wish I can uphold with God's help.

Sorry it is so long but Mikey told me that it needed to be through and so here is my game plan.
I am hopping I can do this.
